My wild SEO ride from 0 to 35K Visits in One Year🚀 + personal checklist for ranking a new website

So, a year ago, I had a crazy idea. “Can I take a website from absolute zero to ranking on Google?”

This journey began with a spark of motivation.

A client suggested that my content wasn’t meeting their SEO goals.

I wondered, How does this SEO thing really work and where did we go wrong?

I knew I had to dive deeper into SEO.

So, I took out my life savings ($10 😂) and got someone on Fiverr to do keyword research for me.

Then, I started writing different content with zero focus on clusters or keyword cannibalization. (I didn’t know at the time 😅)

As expected, nothing happened (you can see the slowed growth in the chart below).

My heart stopped for like a week 😞

So, I decided to change my approach.

I doubled down on more SEO educational content and implemented each new idea I learned

The journey wasn’t smooth sailing.

There were late nights, countless cups of coffee, and moments of doubt.

Side note: I totally abandoned the first site and started a new one 😅

But I could see the progress with each new piece of content and each tweak to the website.

And the first page-one rank came

Omoo, my joy was over the roof. 🕺 🕺

The next one came

And then another.

My site started climbing the Google ranks, and the traffic started trickling in.

Fast forward to today, and my site is sitting pretty at the top spot on Google for hundreds of relevant keywords.

And the result?

Well, the huge graph below speaks for itself 😎

Coming from a content writing background, this is more than a major win. 😌

My plan going forward?

Double the traffic and rank more blogs (already working on three 😁)

What I’ve learned from the journey so far is that negative feedback can produce positive results.

It all depends on how you choose to channel the energy.

Plus, consistency and continuous learning always lead to growth.

I’ll be sharing my personal SEO checklist, the tools I used, and the epic wins (and facepalms 🤦‍♂️) in the coming days, so do follow me so you don’t miss any of them.

PS: I’ve been crafting this post for over a month 😅 How do you summon the courage to hit “share” when you don’t have the motivation?
